Hostel > Hotel
Hostels guarantee a few things: Night sweats, morning mosquito bites, cold showers and random dreams. The towels are traditionally of a brown tint and the walls full of old memories.
Yet also a sure thing is good people, great conversation (even if you cannot understand the actual language spoken), incredible food and a feel for the local culture. After a while the brown tint is rather appealing and the wall of history becomes a memento of sorts…and every so often some good wifi appears.
Thus, it’s a no brainer: hostel > hotel.
